A suckless debian installation

Remember my last story about my awesome debian installation? Well it didn’t work out as I wanted it. Awesome itself was somehow to heavy for my taste. So many customization options. Huge lua scripts for all kind of tasks - no matter how simple they where etc etc. Well I was reading suckless.org a lot lately and liked it more and more. I like: the idea that they don’t parse configfiles but instead you modify a config. Read more...

An awesome debian installation

Imagine you’ve got a Macbook A1181 from 2006. Which is also the perfect hardware if you want a nice libre notebook. Okay I didn’t flash the EFI with Libreboot, because I’m afraid that I can’t go back then. But in theory it’s possible. It is also a nice looking versatile notebook. Goals Get the keyboard working like the macos version (US mac + German Umlauts using Alt+U + umlaut or Alt+s) Read more...

postmarketOS on Galaxy Nexus

Hi bought a old used Galaxy Nexus for 30 bucks on ebay, to try postmarketOS (https://postmarketos.org/). The reason I choose this model was because of it’s great hardware support. Especially Wifi (Supported Devices)[https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Devices]. I hope I can get Bluetooth to work, since I want to use this device as an encrypted ultra mobile backup device with vpn, ssh, terminal and a bluetooth keyboard for system administration. YubiKey with SSH via OpenPGP on macOS High Sierra

since the internet is full of outdated information on configuring the Yubikey to work with GnuPG on macOS I’ll get you an update for High Sierra. Personally I’d recommend to use GPG Suite from https://gpgtools.org/ to install gnupg on a macOS. It brings a lot of features and a plugin for Mail. Use Yubikey’s OpenPGP with SSH Create a gpg-agent.conf config and update your ~/.bash_profile to enable gnupg’s ssh agent. Read more...

Lock your Mac when unplugging your YubiKey automatically

Especially at work you should lock your screen when you leave your workspace. To make this easier when you’re a YubiKey user, I’ve created the following script to automatically lock your screen when you unplug your YubiKey. After that it waits until a YubiKey is inserted again and from then on it will lock the screen again if you remove it. Even when it would be much nicer to install the script as a launchd daemon I don’t recommend it. Read more...
